I was born in Leicester and that is about as far away from the sea as you can get in England. But I always had an interest in boats. Bumping into the bloated bodies of dead cats with a canoe on the Grand Union Canal is not the most auspicious start to the world of sailing. But things got better when school trips to the Norfolk Broads introduced me to dinghy sailing.

Then at last, work made it possible to buy my first real boat, the gaff rigged 'Saga'.

Later came my first renovation project the gaff rigged 'Daisy'.

Now I am renovating the fishing boat 'Polly'.

There have also been a motley collection of dinghies.
